She decides that she wants to see someing of life but in nineteenth century Britain life for a wealthy young woman cannot be simple, especially when the ownership of her money comes into question.
A lesser known novel by that giant of Victorian novels, Anthony Trollope. I, for one, enjoyed the story and feel that Miss Mackenzie is one of Trollope’s best heroines.

Anthony Trollope was born in London, England on April 24, 1815. In 1834, he became a junior clerk in the General Post Office, London. In 1841, he became a deputy postal surveyor in Banagher, Ireland.
I fear that Miss Mackenzie, when she betook herself to Littlebath, had before her mind’s eye no sufficiently settled plan of life. She wished to live pleasantly, and perhaps fashionably; but she also desired to live respectably, and with a due regard to religion.
In the classic novel Miss Mackenzie, Trollope depicts Margaret Mackenzie, overwhelmed with money troubles, as she tries to assess the worth and motives of four very different suitors.
